Family Seminar with Ps. Ade Manuhutu (Indonesia)

Family Seminar – Building a family that God desired

The family seminar on August 15 2008 formally kicked off the celebration for Bethany Auckland International Church’s 10th birthday. Held at Baptist Church, 46 James Street, Glenfield, the seminar was given by Pastor Ade Manuhutu, famous singer turned pastor from Jakarta, Indonesia. Many people attended the seminar and were blessed by Pastor Ade’s teachings and testimonies.

Pastor Ade began by explaining the Bible’s meaning of family. According to Genesis 1:28, God builds family from a marriage. A marriage is pure in God’s eyes and no man shall separate a husband from his wife as they’ve become one flesh (Mark 10:6-9). God frowns upon divorce and upon a man who treats his wife with violence (Malachi 2:16).

A family is also built through the fear of the Lord (Psalm 128:1-6). In Isaiah 40:15, humans are seen as no more than little drops of water. Surely, if we are as small as a drop of water, we have to fear the Lord who created both Heaven and earth, the Lord who has power over the whole universe. Psalm 128:1 links having a fear of the Lord with obeying and holding on tightly to all of His commands.

Pastor Ade also taught us the ways in which we can build a good communication within our family. It is important for a husband and his wife to have two-way communication for the creation of intimacy and unity within their marriage. The communication will also have to be biblical and doesn’t go beyond God’s teachings and commands.
